Robert Thompson

Robert Thompson is the Head of Economics & Rates Strategy at RBC Capital Markets Sydney.

He has over 12 years of experience in covering Australian rates and economics, with a primary focus on monetary policy, government finances and relative value research in A$ fixed income space.

He began in financial markets as an intern & graduate at Westpac before working as a Rates Strategist, then joined RBC as a Macro Strategist in 2017 before taking over leadership of the team in 2026.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney.
