The 2019 Australian Business Economists’ Student Conference brought together leading minds to explore the critical connections between economics and wellbeing. Hosted at the University of Technology Sydney, the event aimed to inspire future leaders by examining how economic policies can shape societal progress, individual happiness, and collective prosperity. The conference was designed to engage students and educators with thought-provoking discussions and actionable insights on creating a more equitable and sustainable economic future.

A diverse panel of experts tackled pressing topics such as labour market trends, household income dynamics, and the role of fiscal and monetary policy in achieving wellbeing goals. Notable speakers included Dr Alexandra Heath, Head of Economic Analysis at the Reserve Bank of Australia, who delved into economic forecasts and their implications for young Australians. Other panellists, including Ms Besa Deda from St. George Bank, Ms Elysse Morgan from the ABC, and Ms Shade Zahrai from Influenco Group, shared innovative perspectives on happiness, workforce development, and the evolving global economy.
