Dr. Ben Jarman

Ben is Chief Economist and Head of FX and Interest Rate Strategy for Australia and New Zealand at J.P. Morgan.

He is responsible for forecasting and analysis of the Aus/NZ economies and markets, development of trade ideas across cash and derivatives, and publication of related research. His role involves frequent communication of JP Morgan’s economic and market views to internal stakeholders (fixed income, equities sales and trading, investment bank and management), as well as to clients and the media. He has extensive experience in economic analysis, modelling, and quantitative/econometric/machine learning techniques. His team was awarded best forecaster of Australian and NZ interest rates in 2024 by Focus Economics, and has been ranked 1st or 2nd for seven consecutive years. He also polls in seven categories across economics and market strategy in the Institutional Investor research awards. Ben holds a Bachelor of Commerce with First Class Honours, a Bachelor of Science (Math.) with Honours, and a PhD in Economics. His PhD dissertation committee included Nobel Laureate Prof. Paul Milgrom of Stanford University.
