Luke Yeaman is Chief Economist and Head of Global Economic & Markets Research at Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

He commenced as Chief Economist in March 2025 having previously been the Deputy Secretary, Macroeconomic Group in the Commonwealth Treasury

Luke is responsible for the team of economists and strategists that cover Australian Economics, International Economics, Rates, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Credit and Commodities research.

Luke is also a key spokesperson to clients and media on global and domestic macroeconomic themes, economic policy and a broad range of financial market issues.

Luke has 25 years’ experience working as a policy economist. This includes holding senior positions in the Commonwealth Treasury, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Federal Infrastructure Department and the Office of National Intelligence. Luke was also Chief Economist and Head of Economic Policy in a Prime Minister’s Office and has served as Australia’s G20 Finance Deputy.

Luke has a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from Monash University.
