Bio
Tony has extensive experience in senior roles with independent not-for profit organisations, university-based research centres and interest-focused membership organisations.
He has served as general manager, executive officer, company director, company secretary, committee member and public officer. He has worked to establish several organisations from inception and with others through significant change. He has managed complex projects and coordinated large public events.
Tony is expert in communication with clients and constituents; politicians at all levels of government; the bureaucracy including funders and regulators; industry stakeholders and related associations; and the general public. He has appeared before parliamentary inquiries, provided written and oral evidence to processes including, for example, those of the Productivity Commission, given presentations to conferences and seminars, and developed and led interactive workshops.
His recent work has required advice to chief and other executives, boards and committees, notably about governance, strategy and risk.
As well as being a ‘general’ manager, Tony has subject matter expertise in energy systems, markets and institutions including policy and regulatory frameworks; climate change and decarbonisation policy, programs and agents in government, business and non-government sectors; the intersection of energy and climate policy and programs.
Tony is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Graduate of the Company Directors Course.
Tony served as Business and Events manager for ABE, between 2005 and 2023, with Chairs including Bill Evans, Rob Henderson, Stephen Halmarick and Stephen Walters.
